PARTICIPATION COMMITMENT

DCSC is a “parent participation” club and we encourage family participation. Each swimmer is assigned a number of volunteer points to be earned throughout the year. For families with multiple swimmers, the participation point requirement is progressively reduced for each subsequent swimmer. The first swimmer's requirement is counted at 100%, the second swimmer's requirement at 50%, and the third swimmer's requirement at 25%. For example, if three swimmers would each normally require 8 points, the family's requirements would be 8 points + 4 points + 2 points = 14 points total.

Participation points can be earned by volunteering at team events, swim meets (hospitality for DCSC meets and officiating), and fundraising events; as well as by taking on key positions with club administration. We also award volunteer points for food donations at swim meets and social events. All of the volunteer activities are crucial for the successful management of the team throughout the year.

Our Volunteer Participation Program provides families with two options:

  • Participate in club volunteer opportunities and earn the required participation points for your swimmer(s); or
  • Choose not to volunteer and pay the participation fee of $50 for each outstanding point. Payment will be processed automatically after the end of the 2026-2027 training year.

This approach gives each family the flexibility to choose the option that best fits their circumstances. As a non-profit, volunteer-run organization, DCSC depends on the contributions of its members to provide quality programming at an affordable cost. Families who volunteer contribute their time to help the club operate successfully. Families who choose not to volunteer contribute financially through the participation fee.

Please remember to track your points and submit them to the Volunteer Coordinator (participation@dartmouthcrusaders.ca) regularly. IT IS YOUR RESPONSIBILITY TO REPORT YOUR POINTS.

Volunteering as an Official:  DCSC is required to provide officials at all competitions, exclusive of SNC designated meets.  A parent of a competitive swimmer is encouraged to assist whenever his/her child participates in a swim meet.  Opportunities to take Official Development Clinics will be offered throughout the swim season.  It is recommended that as your swimmer progresses through the years, you take the initiative to develop as an official and help to keep our swim meets and time trials going!
