Swim Officials Update from Swim NS
From Swim NS:
Thank you to all of the timers and officials who stepped up this weekend at the East Coast Championships to ensure all positions were filled. We truly appreciate your ongoing support and commitment to making our competitions possible!
We want to acknowledge that assigning lanes is not ideal, and it is not something we enjoy doing. Our goal moving forward (as it always has been) is to have enough timers and officials volunteer in advance so that all positions can be filled proactively across all Swim NS hosted meets.
As we experienced again this weekend at Dalplex, securing sufficient volunteers continues to be a challenge. It is important that these roles are confirmed ahead of time to reduce the stress and uncertainty placed on our Head Officials, who already dedicate a significant amount of time and effort to staffing and running these meets.
We will continue to review how we can better support and motivate clubs, officials, and timers to come forward earlier in the process. Without timers and officials, we are unable to run successful competitions, and we want to avoid last-minute gaps wherever possible.
Ongoing discussions are taking place as we look at ways to strengthen this process and improve overall meet operations.
Looking ahead, our next standalone Swim NS hosted meet will be NS Long Course Championships at Dalplex in early June. We are hopeful that, together, we can ensure all positions are filled in advance.
Thank you again for your continued support!!
