Call for Nominations: Dunn-Hemphill Memorial Award 

The Dunn-Hemphill Memorial Award honors individuals whose exceptional volunteerism and leadership have significantly contributed to the vitality and family spirit of the Dartmouth Crusaders Swim Club

About the Award: Named in memory of Ken Dunn and Stephen Hemphill, this award recognizes the enduring impact of dedicated volunteers

  • Ken Dunn served the swimming community in numerous capacities, including as a Crusaders executive member, a master official, President of Swim Nova Scotia, and a member of the Board of Directors for Swim Canada. His commitment to developing officials and strengthening governance has left a lasting legacy.
     
  • Stephen Hemphill was a cherished Crusaders executive member and official. His warmth, enthusiasm, and dedication fostered the club's renowned culture of family participation and community engagement
     

Nomination Criteria: We invite nominations for individuals who embody the spirit of volunteerism and leadership exemplified by Ken Dunn and Stephen Hemphill. Nominees should have

  • Demonstrated exceptional volunteer service to the Dartmouth Crusaders Swim Club
  • Contributed to fostering a strong sense of community and family involvement within the club
  • Exhibited leadership that has positively impacted the club's operations and culture

How to Nominate: Please submit your nominations by May 15th, 2025, including

  • Nominee's full name
  • A brief description detailing the nominee's contributions and why they deserve this recognition 
  • Send nominations to: president@dartmouthcrusaders.ca

Presentation: The award will be presented at the 2025 Dartmouth Crusaders Swim Club Annual Banquet on June 22, 2025, at the Mic Mac Amateur Aquatic Club

Call for Nominations: Sheila Landry Award for Outstanding Swim Official Volunteerism

The Sheila Landry Award recognizes individuals whose dedication as volunteer swim officials has significantly impacted the Dartmouth Crusaders Swim Club.

About the Award:

Established in memory of Sheila Landry, this award honours her tireless commitment to the Crusaders and the broader swimming community. Sheila was a steadfast advocate for fairness in competition, always placing the needs and well-being of swimmers at the heart of her efforts. Her legacy lives on through those who uphold the same values of integrity, dedication, and service on the pool deck.

Nomination Criteria:

We invite nominations for individuals who have:

  • Demonstrated outstanding commitment in a volunteer swim official role
  • Upheld the principles of fairness and sportsmanship for swimmers
  • Contributed meaningfully to the success of swim meets and the positive experience of athletes
